Institute of the Estonian Language is a state-owned research and development institution under the Ministry of Education and Research. The institute focuses on contemporary Estonian language and its history, Estonian dialects, Finno-Ugric languages, and the development of language technology solutions. The general objective of the institute is to contribute to the continuity of the Estonian language throughout history through its activities.

Institute of the Estonian Language's office building is located in the center of Tallinn, at Roosikrantsi 6, in an impressive building established in 1958. During the 2022 reconstruction, a contemporary work environment was created to meet present-day needs.

As part of the building's reconstruction, we were tasked with creating a dignified signage system for the revamped building. Given the complex layout of the building, directional signs were added at corridor intersections to assist in navigating the building's wings. Through analysis, we identified that the rooms are divided into three categories and distinguished them with different colors. The most noticeable hue was assigned to spaces used by institution visitors or those serving a social function. Offices and utility rooms, known locations to the employees, were kept modestly in shades of gray and white.

Visitors are greeted by the new EKI logo in the stairwell, which we created the previous year.

Rooms used by the institution's guests or that have a social function are highlighted in yellow.
